Can I capture still shots of images that I see on the screen? Can I take recordings of sections of an area that I am driving over?

Product dependent the answer is YES see your operations manual for details on whether your product has this option.  

The Snapshot view is enabled through the Accessories Menu of your unit.  The default setting is Off.  

Simply install a SD card into the card slot of the unit and follow the simple instructions in the User Manual. Snapshots can be downloaded to your PC or reviewed on the unit. Recordings can be reviewed on the unit but can not be transferred to a PC.
