The FB 30  rudder feedback used by the SC 110  incorporates a unique brushless, transformer coupled construction. This design eliminates the primary cause of most RFU failures, which is the wear of the internal brush style contacts.  This design has many advantages but due to the internal construction differences, other manufacturers rotary feedback units are not electrically compatible with the SC110 system.

SeaStar Solutions (formerly Teleflex) makes linear feedbacks for a number of specific outboard motor applications.  One of these linear feedbacks, specifically the AR4502RM , is compatible with the Humminbird SC 110 autopilot. The wiring interface is documented in the installation manual and the physical installation is a relatively simple process.   Configuration selection is via the rudeer feedback set up option which is set during the initial commissioning of the autopilot.
