POSITION SUMMARY Assumes a key role in the development of new products by qualifying the designs to the required technical specifications of the product. Participates in the design process, developing qualification test plans, and working with the quality to ensure that new products are ready for production. This position is based in Alpharetta, Georgia. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Develops qualification test procedures/plans and establishes product qualification test specifications for all new products and product design platforms. • Tests and evaluates new product designs and substitute components against specifications. Performs prototype testing with engineers to identify early failures or potential qualification design issues. • Ensures ongoing testing of new product designs to meet qualification specifications. Conducts competitive testing. • Supports quality in new product processes by serving as member and/or resource on development teams. • Assists in evaluating new materials, assembly processes and/or techniques. • Develops new technical specifications where industry specs are not available, correlating with historical product performance, product returns and real world usage of the products. • Investigates industry appropriate standards and specifications. • Designs, builds and troubleshoot tests fixtures. • Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering. One to two years related experience; Intern or Co-op design qualification experience which includes establishing, testing and evaluating product qualifications against specifications would be a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Knowledge of fundamental, digital and analog circuit design & components would be a plus • Familiar with reading and drawing schematics, identifying component and component values. • Familiar with electronics and mechanical test equipment. • Excellent social, interpersonal and communication skills. • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite or similar products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) TO APPLY Send a cover letter and resume to HummHR@johnsonoutdoors.com
Bachelor’s degree required in Business Management or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering is desirable. Experience:
