Job Summary
Johnson Outdoors Marine Electronics is looking for an industrial designer to join our product development  team.  The Industrial Designer is responsible for creating dynamic product designs that possess a rich user experience. The Industrial designer will work with the 3D product design as well as the accompanying graphical user interface of consumer electronic products. The product brand language, aesthetics, ergonomics, and usability are a function of the Industrial/UX Designer while working in close collaboration with R&D, Engineering, Marketing, and Management teams. This person must possess the ability to quickly grasp highly complex matters and output clean, understandable solutions. Strong problem solving skills and the ability to understand the end user’s requirements are a must.

Based in Alpharetta, Georgia (north Atlanta metro).

Essential Functions

User Experience Design
The UX responsibilities focus on generating product research, writing design specifications, developing original creative design concepts and GUI assets, and overseeing multiple projects through execution. The person will be responsible for crafting and refining innovative User Experience models to meet the business requirements and needs of the end user. This person will need to have the aptitude to communicate clearly with software developers to ensure designs are implemented thoroughly per specification.
Industrial Design
The Industrial Design responsibilities focus on generating product research, creating concept renderings and storyboards, transferring design concepts into CAD, establishing and preserving product brand language, and overseeing multiple projects through execution. The person is responsible for the initial product design and must be a champion for the end user while maintaining business objectives. This person will need to work closely with mechanical engineers and be integral to vendor coordination efforts to make certain the product idea transitions from concept to production. 

• 1-2  years of direct experience crafting compelling and innovative product designs and  brand experiences in the field of consumer electronics.  Co-op and intern experience will be considered.
• Defining and maintaining style guides for multiple brand languages
• Communicate concepts and ideas through verbal, visual, and written means
• Proficient use of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Fireworks, Flash)
• Concept generation and sketching skills (WACOM tablet skill set preferred)
• Rendering via KeyShot and SketchBook pro
• Proficient solid modeling with PRO-E or similar CAD software
• Manage UX experience by defining Information Architecture
• Wireframes and GUI Asset creation

Desired Skills (a Plus)
• Product design experience in mobile or tablet market 
• iOS and Android experience
• Human Computer Interface with a focus on touch screen design
• Knowledge of Interactive wireframe software and apps
• Knowledge of QML/Qt, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and/or Flash

Senior electrical technician

Johnson Outdoors Marine Electronics - Humminbird
Based in Eufaula, Alabama

Assists in the electronic design and development of new products which includes prototyping, troubleshooting and testing electronic/electrical components. Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing and other internal teams to ensure excellent product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists the engineering team in the design, development and assembly of basic to complex products/product components and offers recommendations on process or efficiency improvements. Assists and supports various engineering projects simultaneously.

• Conducts experimentation relating to new components, new designs, or new technologies which include setting up, checking and correcting electrical/electronics, circuitry and/or equipment while adhering to pre-established guidelines of the organization's engineering specifications. Performs related electrical research, collects and compiles data and calculates results.

• Performs electronic/electrical design qualification, electromagnetic and other electronic/electrical testing. Performs advanced troubleshooting to identify, resolve and communicate issues. Maintains detailed and organized documentation of tests.

• Partners with outside agencies to recommend and test new products in regard to required standards.

• Coordinates and delegates test requests with other internal divisions/departments.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:   Associates/technical degree in engineering or equivalent.
Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of experience troubleshooting electronics/electrical equipment down to the component level
Other information
• Job is based at the Eufaula Humminbird facility.  It is day shift, 7:00AM to 3:30PM, M – F.  We do have occasional overtime.
